Ramadan Health Tips: 10 must things to do in Ramadan
Ramadan Health Tips
for UAE 2026
Expert advice from LLH Oasis Medical Centre — stay healthy, strong and energetic throughout Ramadan fasting in Abu Dhabi.
Ramadan Mubarak! 🌙 Fasting during Ramadan is a beautiful and spiritual experience — but it can also be challenging for your health, especially in the UAE heat. As medical professionals at LLH Oasis Medical Centre Abu Dhabi, we share our top expert health tips to help you fast safely and stay healthy throughout Ramadan 2026.
Stay Hydrated Between Iftar & Suhoor
Dehydration is the biggest health risk during Ramadan fasting — especially in UAE's hot climate. Drink at least 8 glasses of water between Iftar and Suhoor. Avoid tea, coffee and fizzy drinks as they cause more dehydration.
Eat a Nutritious Suhoor
Suhoor is your most important meal during Ramadan! Eat slow-digesting foods like oats, eggs, whole wheat bread and yogurt. These release energy slowly and keep you full and strong throughout the long fasting hours.
Avoid Fried & Oily Foods at Iftar
After a long fast your stomach is sensitive. Heavy fried foods cause bloating, indigestion and fatigue. Break your fast with dates and water first, then eat light before having your main meal. Your body will thank you!
Get a Ramadan Health Check at LLH Oasis
Before Ramadan begins — get a full health check at LLH Oasis Medical Centre! Check your blood sugar, blood pressure and kidney function. Especially important for diabetics, heart patients and pregnant women before starting their fast.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep patterns change completely during Ramadan. Try to get 7-8 hours total — even if split between night sleep and an afternoon nap. Lack of sleep weakens your immune system and makes fasting much harder.
Exercise Lightly — Right Time Matters!
You can still exercise during Ramadan but timing is everything! Best time is 1-2 hours after Iftar when your body is fuelled. Avoid intense exercise during fasting hours — it causes dangerous dehydration in UAE heat.
Manage Your Medications Carefully
If you take regular medications — consult your doctor before Ramadan! Many medicines can be adjusted to Suhoor and Iftar timings. Never stop medication without doctor advice. LLH Oasis doctors can help you plan your Ramadan medication schedule.
Eat More Fruits & Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are your best friends during Ramadan! They are rich in water content, vitamins and minerals that your body loses during fasting. Watermelon, cucumber, oranges and leafy greens are especially beneficial in UAE climate.
Avoid Direct Sun & Stay Cool
UAE summer heat during Ramadan is extreme! Stay indoors during peak heat hours (12pm-4pm). If you must go outside — wear loose light clothing and stay in shade. Heat exhaustion and heatstroke are serious risks when fasting in UAE.
Take Care of Your Mental Health
Ramadan is also about spiritual wellbeing! Reduce stress, avoid arguments and practice patience. Mental stress increases cortisol which makes fasting physically harder. Meditation, prayer and spending time with family all support your health during Ramadan.
